THE STORY OF NUNDI - A Second Chance
Nundi is a little girl with a warm heart, and Tai is an old woman with a cold soul. When their paths meet, nothing is the same again.
A little girl begins her day with a simple desire; to spend the morning playing by stream that separates her village from the forest. Instead, she discovers that a small act of kindness can change someone’s life in a big way.
There is something special about Nundi, and it affects everything around her. Tai is an old woman who has lived alone for many years because of her dislike of other people. Although the main characters are a little girl and an old woman, this story is for everyone, as it shows how people can be shaped by their experiences, whether good or bad. The story, along with the discussion questions at the end, will show young readers that things aren’t always as they seem; and encourage them to look deeper than the surface to better understand those who are different from them.
The Story Behind the Story
Donnetta Booker originally wrote THE STORY OF NUNDI many years ago for a friend and her newborn baby girl, Nundi. Years later, she ran across a copy of the story while looking through some boxes in her basement. After reading it, she loved it as much as she did when she first wrote it and decided right then to make it into a book.
